ABOUT EGMS TEXTILE DESIGN

Bio

Throughout my three years at University, I have managed to obtain significant technical understanding associated with the weave process. Through planning, making, and setting up warps on a variety of looms I have been able to experiment, play and execute handwoven cloths with a varied selection of yarns and techniques. These looms include George Wood Dobby Looms, Arm Touch 60’s, Harris Table looms and use of weave software Pointcarré, to create jacquard designs for hand operated TC2 looms, and the Jacquard Power loom.

Due to the restraints of Covid 19 and the impacts students faced during this time frame, there was an enormous incentive for us to focus on our CAD skills. As a result, I have spent a substantial amount of time developing my abilities on Photoshop, Illustrator and Pointcarré; all of which have enabled me to become an adaptable designer with my ability to work both digitally and physically to a high standard.

This standard has been recognised by The Worshipful Company of Weavers when I was awarded a scholarship for my work.

I’m eager to continue my learning after I finish my degree at university, looking to obtain industry experience within the fashion/ textile industry.
